Remembering Your Worth
In the last few years, the games industry has been an unpredictable roller-coaster for those working in the industry, or trying to break in for the first time. When one either gets laid off or goes a long period of time struggling to find a position in the industry one has a passion for, it can be easy to start to doubt your self-worth and internalize the idea that you don't matter.
It’s important to remember however, that your worth doesn’t come from your position, title, or the company you work for. Always keep in mind that you are who determines your value. I would be lying if I said that it was easy to do so, that's why opening yourself up and attempting to connect with others is so important, as it's reminded me that I have things to offer.
Community members have encouraged me to submit my illustrations to different events such as Community Canvas in Durham and I was actually selected. Being part of the TIAC community has provided me with a space to connect with other creatives and either work together, discuss projects, or just play Mario Party.

GMTK Game Jam
Join us for an annual game making marathon in our office starting Friday, August 16th at 5:30pm, and going through the weekend. Office hours will be 8am - 10pm on Saturday, the 17th, and 8am - 8pm on Sunday, the 18th. The idea is to make a game that fits a specific theme in a short period of time. Participants are usually given 48 hours, but this year, it will be 96 hours! Twice the time to make a project for the event.

A Retrospective on July
Weekly Community Hangouts on Thursdays have continued. It’s a great place to play and discuss games, or maybe even get 3DS street passes (please, I need street passes.)
This month’s playtest night had a large turnout! Many people came to show off and play different projects. Some highlights include “Pointed Fury” by Armand Preschutti, “Clyinder” by Mighty Rabbit Studios, and “Project Beserk” by Luke Schiltz
If you’d like a space where you can work alongside other game devs and artists, we offer a coworking space membership! If you have any questions you can reach out at hello@triangleinteractivearts.org.
Thanks for reading.
